Delta Company 1/20Delta Company, 1st Of The 20th, 11th Light Infantry Brigade Charles S. SeketaTo bring you up to date. The wake and memorial service for Captain Seketa was held in his hometown of Liverpool, NY. It was attended by about 75 people. Reverend Milton Jefferson presided over the prayers. A wreath 32 inches in diameter, with flowers in red, white, and blue, with a blue streamer (color of Sykes's regulars crossed rifles), with the words "warrior...1st/20th", was next to the casket. The card read "with the sincerest and deepest sympathy, from the officers and men of the 1st/20th." Mike Herber (formerly Lt. Herber), from Seattle, and myself (formerly Lt. Davis), from Boston, gave words of comfort and about Chuck's great leadership skills and devotion to the unit, both during the war and post-war. We left on his lapel and in the casket, for all-time, the following: CIB, Americal patch, Syke's regulars crossed rifles, and 1st/20th crossed rifles. At the local veteran's ceremony, he had an honor guard, with mournful taps, and the flag presentation to his wife, Cindi. He will be severely missed.
