Delta Company 1/20Delta Company, 1st Of The 20th, 11th Light Infantry Brigade Delta Company, First of the Twentieth, Eleventh Light Infantry Brigade, At this Memorial Day celebration, here is hoping you had a safe weekend and that you were able to remember our good friends whom we lost in Viet Nam so long ago. Leslie and I enjoyed the celebration at Folsom Field, the University of Colorado stadium, where they present a very patriotic celebration, complete with Air Force parachute team in which the last member landing in the stadium has a large American flag flying below him. Followed by a 21-gun salute and a fly-by of four F-16's. The presentation brings a tear to your eye, and at this time in our country, many of the people present were very supportive of our country. It was gratifying to witness. I have two main issues to address in this newsletter. The first is that we now have a Delta Company website. It is located at http://www.deltacompany.org/ and please check it out. Wendell Strode enlisted the help of Glenn Sippola and Wayne Rhine of Web2e, who spent many days, nights and weekends designing and setting up the website. The site truly is a work of art. Please send them a thank you through the contact available on the website. We have information on the website about our Memorial list, our reunion (see below) and our group pictures from all of the three reunions. If you have e-mail, you may have already received this notification via e-mail! Most importantly, please send me your most recent e-mail address through the contact point on the website. I have a fairly up-to-day list of e-mail addresses for about 40 of us, but as our roster now approaches 150, it is much easier to stay in contact through e-mail, than through the mail. For this newsletter, I will be sending it by e-mail to those of you that I know I have a current e-mail address. For those of you that I do not have a current e-mail address, I'll send a copy of this letter, please send me your e-mail address if you have one. Thanks. As before, on e-mail etiquette, we will put all names in the BCC section, so your e-mail address will not be forwarded to others. We also do not send out any spam messages and we do not sell our roster of names and addresses (in case you ever wondered). The second point is our upcoming reunion. It is amazing how time flies, it has already been a year since our 2002 reunion, and now our 2004 reunion is only a year away! All of us that have attended the reunions know how satisfying it is to see our friends again and we certainly hope that more of you will be able to attend the 2004 reunion. The reunion is the weekend starting with Friday, April 30th, 2004. In the past many of us have arrived on Thursday. We have 35 rooms reserved (and can get more) at the Holiday Inn and the phone number is 1-800-555-2650. The room rate is $57.99 for Thursday night and $89.99 for Friday and Saturday. When you call or e-mail, tell them it is for the Delta Company Reunion. You will find all the Reunion information on the website, including a link to make your reservation. Again, specify Delta Company for the special room rate. If you have any special requests for activities at the Reunion please do not hesitate to let me know. We will also be looking for volunteers to help with some of the planning. Just a reminder too, that if you find any other men from Delta Company, please let us know and we will add them to the roster. Thanks to all of you for your financial generosity. We are supported entirely by the voluntary contributions of our members. Members can contribute whatever amount they are comfortable with. As a formality, our annual dues are $100. Regardless of contribution, any man serving in Delta Company is a member of our group and will always receive the newsletters and any other communications and is encouraged to attend the reunion. If you would like to make a contribution, checks should be made out to Delta Company and mailed to Mac McLellan. Please use the contact form for the mailing address.
