Christmas, 2002 Newsletter

Here is wishing all of you a most wonderful Christmas, 2002 and hope your Thanksgiving was "filling" too! Many of us have had good talks after our April reunion and fond memories of being together. As we approach Christmas, I am reminded of my 'Nam Christmas in '69 when one of our guys came out of the sawgrass, with a shaving cream beard, saying "Ho, Ho, Ho". What a remembrance that is of our time together, long ago. One of you guys may remember who Santa was, I sure don't.

Our April reunion was a big success. We have already scheduled our 2004 Reunion at the Holiday Inn in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee for the weekend of April 30, 2004. This time we were able to reserve a block of 35 rooms at the Holiday Inn, which is very convenient. We are developing some thoughts and ideas for the next Reunion and if you have any special ideas, please do not hesitate to pass them on to me or Cliff and Sherry. For our 2002 Reunion, Rich Parry had the great idea of a buffet dinner, complete with DJ playing our 60's and 70's tunes, and it worked out just great. So please pass on any ideas you have!

We have located a number of new Delta Company men and Sherry will be sending out a new roster shortly. We hope that we have located more of your close friends from Delta Company. For the new men, I am enclosing the May Reunion newsletter and the picture of our group taken at the Reunion.

We now have well over 120 men on our mailing list. For convenience and mailing costs, we would prefer to e-mail future newsletters. If we do not have your e-mail address, please e-mail it to me (see my e-mail address below). Keep us updated with any changes to either your home address or web address, so we will continue to get our correspondence to you. E-mail etiquette, we will endeavor to put all names in the BCC section, so your e-mail address will not be forwarded to others. Also, we do not sell our roster of names and addresses (in case you ever wondered).

Thanks to all of you for your generosity and financial support, especially to those of you who were not able to attend the reunion but contributed nonetheless. As most of you know our dues are entirely voluntary. While we ask for annual dues of $100, members can contribute whatever amount they are comfortable with. Regardless, all members will always receive the newsletters and are encouraged to attend the reunion. If you would like to make a contribution, checks should be made out to Delta Company and mailed to Mac McLellan (Use the Contact form to request the address).

All of us who attended the reunion had a great time and we encourage those who couldn't attend to try and come to our next reunion in 2004. It is really good to see your friends again and our new attendees this year all came away saying how rewarding it was to be with one another again.

Your Forever Friends,

Alan and Leslie Conger

Cliff and Sherry Barger
