Captain Joseph "Barry" Jones was the first company commander of Delta Company when the unit was organized in Hawaii in 1967. He was lost on Feb 5 1968 due to small arms fire . He became on that date the first man to be lost by Delta Company. He is survived by his widow Martha White, daughter Jennifer "Barri" Murse, sister Marlene Adams, brother Jacky Jones as well as two nieces Jo Todd and Jill Kennedy and his nephew Cam Reagin.

He is buried in Lyons Georgia in his family`s plot. Both a Sunday school class in his home church and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Lyons Vidalia VFW are named in his honor.
