Robert Lawrence Janowitz Lt. Janowitz was in a blocking force as ordered by the Commander. While getting his men down and ready for the enemy to flee toward them as the main group of Delta was doing a John Wayne charge toward Lt. Janowitz' position. His platoon was damaged very badly as all main leaders were killed by the enemy, estimated to be a company size force with 50 calibre machine guns. We had on first contact some 35 soldiers wounded. Lt. Janowitz was about 30 feet from the enemy when the enemy open fired. Lt was a fine solder and cared about his men.
